The Preliminary Application requires one (1) faculty letter of recommendation. Please have a faculty member in your chosen subfield of history send their letter directly to the Director of Graduate Studies. This faculty member should be willing and able serve as the MA Advisor.

4. Applicant Statement of Purpose

The Statement of Purpose explains your academic record, motivation for graduate study, research interests, and career goals (typically 3 pages; maximum 5 pages).

Your writing sample should be a scholarly work indicative of your capacity to do research and writing in History at the graduate level (term paper, chapter of thesis, etc.).
